COOKING UP CULTURES FOUNDATION

Works within communities in live classes promoting community engagement to narrow the cultural gaps in our neighborhoods. The Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 entity that provides two programs: Cooking Up English and Cookovers.

Since 2010 we have served over 450 participants from all over the world, with as many as 12 languages represented in one class. 84% of participants report increased confidence speaking the language of study and 96% of participants report improved cultural understanding. Two data points we believe are worth continuing.

OUR FOUNDATION PROGRAMS

Cooking Up English

explores American recipes and culture with English language learners over the course of five week series. Each series is focused on a particular “food genre” – Comfort Foods or American Breakfasts, for example. We delve into cultural nuance and immersive language learning. Participants learn everyday phrases, practical modern language, and new culinary skills.
